Morgan Smith
Morgan Smith, a graduate of Columbia College and Mannes College of Music in the New York city's Columbia University, was a Seattle Opera Young Artist (1999-2000). In 2001 he began his career in Billy Budd playing Donald. A great favorite in Seattle, Mr. Smith has performed roles in 12 different productions since the premiere -- which included Count Alamaviva from Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni (title role), Silvio in I Pagliacci, Riccardo in I Puritani and Peter Niles in Mourning Becomes an Electra. Regular in the concert hall Smith has also performed in several other productions. Smith made his Dallas Symphony debut in Bach's St. Matthew Passion, and made his debut in his orchestra, the San Antonio Symphony for the North American premiere of Vier Praludien and Ernste Gesange, Detlef Glanert's orchestral arrangement of the popular cycle written by Brahms. Additional concert repertoire include Beethoven's Ninth Symphony; the Requiems composed by Brahms, Faure, Mozart and Durufle; Mass with the Mass in C Minor in C Minor of Mozart as well as the Mass in G Minor from Vaughan Williams; Bach's B Minor Mass, numerous Cantatas as well as Weihnachts Oratorium; Handel's Messiah and L'Allegro in the form of Penseroso and Il Moderato as well as Haydn's The Creation and Lord Nelson Mass.
